How Song7 uses AI

Last updated: 29 September 2026

Song7 is built by worship leaders for worship teams. We use AI where it saves you real time, and we want you to know exactly where that is. In short: AI helps, you decide, and a person stands behind everything we publish.

In the app

Three features use AI. They are all optional, and they only run when you use them.

Feature What it does What is sent
Find song online After you pick a song from the search, fills in details like key, tempo, time signature, copyright, CCLI number and tags. The song's title, artist, album and year
Import from photo Turns a photo of a chord sheet into an editable chart. The photo you choose
Cleanup Tidies a chart's formatting (section labels, chord spacing) and suggests missing details. The song you are editing

The AI behind these features is Google Gemini. Nothing from your library is sent to it unless you use one of these features.

A few things we hold to:

  • You review before anything is saved. Details filled in by AI are marked AI suggestion — not verified until you check them. Cleanup shows every change before you apply it, and a photo import opens in the song form for you to review and save.
  • AI never writes out copyrighted songs. When you add a song that is still under copyright, Song7 will not generate its lyrics or chords, even if the AI offers them. That rule is enforced in our own code, not left to the AI. Traditional public-domain hymns can come with a chart; for everything else you bring your own licensed chart.
  • Check the facts. AI can be confidently wrong. Treat a suggested key, tempo or CCLI number as a starting point and verify it, especially the CCLI number, since it flows into your CCLI usage report.

How this data is handled is covered in the AI features section of our Privacy Policy.

In what we write

We write our articles with AI assistance. We would rather tell you than have you wonder. How it is used depends on the kind of content:

  • Worship Leader Thoughts start from personal notes gathered over years of leading worship. AI helps shape those notes into articles.
  • Devotions grow out of those same reflections, with AI helping to draft them.
  • Blog posts start with AI asking us questions. We answer from our own experience, and AI organizes the answers, adds researched detail and writes them up.
  • Help pages are drafted by AI from the features we build.

The experience and convictions are ours; AI helps us put them into words and get them to you sooner. A person decides what gets published, and we stand behind it. If something reads wrong or doesn't ring true, please tell us.

In how Song7 is built

Song7 started as hand-written code by a worship leader who is also a developer. Over time AI coding tools became part of the work, and today much of the code is written with AI, guided by developers who decide what gets built and what ships. What Song7 is, and what it deliberately isn't, remains a human decision.
